Data Refine Text Processes
Refine Text uses your name, email address, password or linked Google or Apple authentication records, email verification state, native session tokens, and billing entitlement data to provide account access, quota enforcement, and subscription management.
When you request a rewrite, the selected text and rewrite instruction are sent to Refine Text servers and forwarded to xAI to generate the rewrite. Refine Text stores usage counts and character/word counts for quota and product support. The server does not store the full selected text or rewritten output as rewrite history.
Website And Technical Data
The website uses authentication cookies to keep you signed in. Hosting and security systems may process IP address, browser, device, request, and diagnostic information to operate and protect the service.
Refine Text uses PostHog for limited product analytics. Only manually defined events are collected; automatic interaction capture and session replay are disabled. Analytics identifies signed-in people by an internal account ID, not an email address. Rewrite analytics never includes selected text, rewritten text, clipboard contents, prompts, email addresses, or error messages.
A first-party, HttpOnly attribution cookie stores the first campaign source, medium, campaign, and landing path for up to 90 days. An optional signup answer about how you discovered Refine Text is stored in the PostHog profile and is not added to the application database.
The homepage demo uses YouTube's privacy-enhanced embed. The YouTube player and its network requests load only after you activate the locally rendered video poster.
Local Mac Data
The macOS app stores your native session token in Keychain and stores rewrite history locally in Application Support for the signed-in user. You can delete individual history items or clear local history from the app.
Third Parties
Refine Text uses Vercel for hosting, Neon/PostgreSQL for production database storage, Google and Apple for optional account authentication, Resend for account and usage-limit emails, Polar for payments and customer portal access, PostHog for limited product analytics, YouTube for the optional click-to-load demo, and xAI for AI text rewriting. Apple may provide a private relay address when you choose to hide your email. These services process data only as needed to provide the app, authentication, billing, email, and AI rewrite functionality.
Purpose, Retention, And Security
Refine Text processes data to provide authentication, rewrites, billing, support, security, and quota enforcement. Account data is kept while your account is active. Some billing, transaction, security, and usage records may be retained longer where reasonably necessary for legal, accounting, fraud-prevention, and dispute purposes.
Refine Text uses reasonable technical and organizational safeguards, but no online service can guarantee absolute security.
Contact And Deletion
You can delete your account from the Account page after paid subscription access ends. Deleting the account removes the associated application records, subject to records that must be retained for the purposes described above. Local rewrite history remains on your Mac until you clear it or remove the app data.
You may ask to access, correct, or delete your personal data, subject to applicable law. For privacy requests or questions, contact support@refinetext.pro.
Children And Changes
Refine Text is not directed to children under 13. This policy may be updated as the product or legal requirements change. Material changes will be posted on this page with a revised date.
